A newcomer to the out hip-hop community, Jay Boogie recently dropped his stylish video for the song Caked Out. With a delivery that beckons for the better days of hip-hop, I love an artist who completely involves himself into his creations. I got a chance to catch up with Boogie and talk a bit about his style, his video and what we can expect from the young rapper. At slightly above 2 minutes, Caked Out feeds you but just for a little while. Put Jay Boogie on your radar, I’m looking forward to more.
Jay Boogie is a rapper born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. A proud Hispanic, student, employee, son, and brother who’s art and style can be deemed as minimalist, eclectic, raw, and fearless.
2) Explain the thoughts/themes behind (Caked Out) Video)?
I honestly didn’t have much of a theme for the Caked Out Video, simply because it was a freestyle and not necessarily a full blown song with an elaborate concept. However when speaking to the Videographers the one word I stood strongly behind to describe the goal was simplicity.
3) What can we look forward to in the future with Jay Boogie?
In the future I definitely look forward to releasing an EP and or Mixtape. Surely before 2013, but overall I plan to release music that I enjoy making that hopefully transpires into the listeners enjoying.
