Twice Grammy-nominated music producer Tony Moran, together with Kimberly Davis and lyricist Mike Greenly, are following up their #1 smash from this summer, “My Fire”, with a brand new collaboration, “You’re Good For Me”.
It’s an empowering track for the spring season of love just ahead — blending dance with R&B for an urban pop record celebrating those very important people who bless our lives. It also reminds anyone waiting for love that their special someone is out there.
“I’m thankful for the wonderful men in my life,” says a lively Davis from her Manhattan home. “First is my boo, my husband, my soulmate; he makes each moment worth living. Then I have my musical Prince Charmings, Tony Moran and Mike Greenly, who inspire me to sing my heart out every day and night.” Written by Tony Moran, Tony Smith, Jim Papoulis and Mike Greenly, Tony Moran’s “You’re Good For Me” featuring Kimberly Davis is being released globally through Mr. Tan Man Music. It is available on iTunes, Spotify and Amazon as well as via all other online music retail outlets. Its video is available on YouTube.
“The idea for the song came about through a conversation with Mike (Greenly),” continues Davis. “It was one of those deep talks that got me thinking about all the many dreams I’ve had throughout my singing career that, for whatever reason, fell apart. Oh, how I grieved for them but upon reflection, I came to realize that for each disappointment, right before I was about to leap off the deep end, I always found the most important man in my life there beside me, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though He may not always give me what I want, He always gives me what I need … and deep in my soul, I know that everything happens for a reason. If it’s meant to be, it will be. It’s up to me, as it is for all of us, to keep our eyes on the prize.”
“You’re Good For Me” is the second collaboration among Davis, Greenly and Moran. Their first song, “My Fire, hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Club Play Chart on July 29, 2017, jumping over Ed Sheeran’s “Castle On The Hill” and taking the spot previously held by Katy Perry’s “Swish Swish” featuring Nicki Minaj.
“I was thrilled with the success of ‘My Fire’” reflects songwriter ” Mike Greenly. “That song was a triumphant expression of self-discovery — learning to have gratitude for one’s own self. ‘You’re Good For Me’ extends that awareness and appreciation to those around us who add joy to our lives: the people we are connected to through a spirit of love, support and acceptance. They help make us better people!”
“I remember hearing Kimberly Davis on ‘With You,’ a song she recorded with Mike (Greenly) and Jim (Papoulis),” says Tony Moran. “It was like listening to Whitney or Mary J. I knew right then and there that I needed to bring all these amazing talents onto my ‘Moodswings’ album.”
“Moodswings” is Tony Moran’s double-album of music featuring 17 original dance songs and 14 original pop, R&B and alternative productions sung by today’s leading dance artists including Martha Wash. The album draws inspiration from Moran’s 30 years in dance music and includes many amazing collaborators, like former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi.
“You’re Good For Me” is the sixth single release from “Moodswings”. The album has already yielded three Billboard #1s: Jason Walker’s “Say Yes,” Zhana Roiya’s “Lick me Up” and Kimberly Davis’ “My Fire”. “Collaborating with talented artists is what drives me in my own artistry,” says Moran. “I thrive off the magic of others.”
Fans can see the exuberant love shared between Moran and Davis in their music video for “You’re Good For Me”. Directed by Patty Nieto, it features behind-the-scenes footage of the pair recording the single in-studio. “The idea was to give fans a peek at the passion and fire that goes into the creative process,” says Davis. “I mean, it’s hard work, too. But we’re making joyful records and all the fun behind the beats is for real.”
“As someone behind the glass panel during the recording sessions, I can attest to the authenticity of the love that these two so obviously share,” says Greenly. “And hearing my words with Jim’s composition now musically brought to life by Kimberly and production masters Tony Smith and Tony Moran … well, the beautiful synergy makes me realize that this amazing team of talent we have assembled truly is GOOD for me!”
