Lil Kim Wreaks Havoc In The Bronx!

By Delvon Johnson

Some legends never die. Lil Kim is certainly one of them. She is definitely a force not to be reckoned with, and she gave a performance in the Bronx that had the entire room at it’s feet for two hours straight. Some can try, and most will fail, but there could never be another Queen Bee.

When I received a phone call that I needed to be in the Bronx at the Grand Paradise Theater in a two hour time frame to watch the Queen Bee perform, I thought myself “ This is my big chance to meet Lil Kim!” I don’t think I ever glamorized so fast for an event, but it was worth every moment of the stress. The night would be filled with great music, drinks, and most importantly, seeing Lil Kim shine on stage again.

The show begins with soldiers that come out to salute the queen. Not too long after, Kim comes out and the crowd goes wild. Every seat in the building is sold out. The aroma of Hennessy and marijuana is filling the air. People are falling all over each other as Kim spits rhymes of some of the hottest track in the 90’s, including Big Momma Thang, Quiet Storm, and her first single that put her on the map, No Time. I watched in complete awe as Kim danced, performed and turned it out.

Of course, Kim has got older, but she still has it. Her first look was a pair of beige leather pants with shingles on each pants leg, and a matching top that had her breast draped with jewels. Of course, she was rocking the hottest pair of red bottoms she could find. For the second part of the show, she came out with a netted navy blue cat suit that gave the illusion that she had nothing on under it. Kim’s hair was teased into a fierce lion mane, and the accessory of her choice for the second part of the show was an oversized fan. She look fabulous.

Now, we know that Kim’s show wouldn’t have been complete without some celebrity guest appearances. When the track for “ All About The Benjamins” rocked the walls, the crowd immediately started chanting the lyrics. Then suddenly Drita, from the hit VH-1 reality show Mob Wives hits the stage. She performed Kim’s part in that song, and she rocked the building! Shortly after, Juelz Santana came out and rocked the mic for a bit.

After Juelz had done his thing, there was a brief pause in the show, and Misssy’s song, “Hot Boyz” started spinning. Eve comes out rapping her part of the Hot Boyz Remix, and Missy Elliott was not far behind. The crowd is going into a happy panic while our girls are terrorizing the stage with familiar beats that we will never forget. It was a concert that will never be forgotten, especially for those like me that grew up the Era when Kim was the hottest chick on every block from here to Kansas!

One thing is for sure. As mentioned before, there can never be another Lil Kim. Not Trina. Not Jackie O. And certainly not Nicki Minaj. Kim had been gone for so long that I must admit, I was was starting to lose the battle of being Anti-Nicki Minaj. Her music was beginning to grow on me, but this concert was just enough to put me back on the Lil Kim bandwagon. The Queen Bee is back…Wha! Wha!
