Forget about Simon! It’s Douglas Says!

People poured into the Newark Public Library to see the Four Seasons of Says.  At first, I was a little apprehensive about going to the show because I had never attended a show at a public library. Although it was an interesting approach, it felt a bit strange.  However, once the show was under way, it would have been no different than attending a show under the tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion week.  Originally, there was only supposed to be one show, but the highly anticipated fashion event had sold the first show out, causing Says to have an additional show.  People lined up outside waiting for the first show to be over, and when the show finally started, I understood why.

The lines that Says displayed yesterday were practical and fabulous!  There were some pieces that screamed eccentric, but for the most part, this line was pieces that people could wear.  Says left no page unturned.  While some designs were everyday business attire, some pieces were chic and sexy.  From cat suits to evening wear, Says never skipped a beat.  “The designs just got better and better” says Yvonne Forbes, a plus size model, and entrepreneur. The audience went wild when one of the models strolled out in a charcoal gray cat suit that came with a cape like jacket that flowed down the runway like water.  Overall, I would say that Douglas Says is more than ready to be in the big leagues with designers like Michael Kors.

The models were just as fabulous as the fashion designs. While the audience was able to relate to all the models since there was a very diverse selection of models, they all had one thing in common:  Their looks all screamed fabulous.  From middle aged and mocha complexions to young, full figured, and the color of butterscotch, Says had all bases covered.  Make up for these lovely women done to perfection while rocking outrageous pinned up buns as hairstyles, Says had the audience yearning for more as each model hit that runway.  Rumor has it that reality star, Dwight Eubanks was the hairstylist for this fantastic event.  Eubanks owns an upscale spa and salon in Atlanta.  If he was responsible for the styles, he definitely worked them.  In the audience, you could hear the whispers of people admiring the fierce up-do’s that the models wore.

Even though most celebrities would be exhausted from all of the Fashion Week chaos from last week, it didn’t stop some from coming out.  Actor and ex-husband of reality TV star Cynthia Bailey, Leon sat in the front row amongst others including Audrey Smaltz, diva extrodinaire who is responsible for just about all the hair and makeup artists in Fashion Week called “The Ground Crew”, and Yvonne Forbes, a fabulous plus size model who is also Owner and CEO of Labelleladiva Enterprises LLC. CoFounder/Managing Director of Family Advocates for Client Empowerment. F.A.C.E.

We look forward to what’s in store for Douglas Says for Fall 2012.  If the Four Seasons of Says was any indication of what we have to look forward to, then there are certainly some fantastic things in store for the fashion industry.  It’s simply a matter of time before Says’ goes straight to the top.  It’s no longer Simon Says, its Douglas Says!
